Lakeshore to hold open house on Wallace Woods Secondary Plan

The Municipality of Lakeshore will hold an open house later this month for residents who want to learn more about the Wallace Woods Secondary Plan.

The 475 hectares are surrounded by County Road 22, south to the CP Rail Line, and Patillo Road, east to West Puce Road. While most of the land is set aside for residential, retail, and employment development, 76 hectares will be preserved with trails.

"This is one of the most significant proposals we've seen in recent years, and the feedback received will help steer the potential development of a large area of our municipality for years to come," said Mayor Tom Bain.

The plan has been in the works for several years. The Essex Region Conservation Authority and the County of Essex have commented, and now it's the public's turn.

A virtual meeting is set for April 25 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. before the community open house gets underway at the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Those living around the property are invited to a virtual meeting and can register by emailing planning@lakeshore.ca.

Comments, questions, and feedback will be accepted until May 9.
