In-person tree planting returns for Earth Day

The Essex Region Conservation Authority has an ambitious goal for Earth Day; to plant more than 2,300 trees in Windsor.

The agency is hosting its Earth Day Tree Planting Celebration for the first time in two years this month, but it has made some changes in light of the ongoing pandemic.

Participants will need to pre-register online, and planting will take place over three separate shifts so people can socially distance themselves.

Guests can go online to register to take part on April 22 at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., or 1 p.m.

They also need to wear a face mask and bring their shovel.

ERCA is holding the event along the Ganatchio Trail in the green space.

There is parking at the Riverside Kiwanis Park/Pump track parking lot, McHugh Park, and along Riverside Drive East.
