County ends Declaration of Emergency

It's been 13 months since the County of Essex declared a state of emergency because of COVID-19 and high lake levels, but that ended Thursday.

It was officially terminated at 9 a.m.

"While we are no longer in a declared state of emergency in response to the pandemic, it is imperative that none of us let our guard down because COVID-19 continues to circulate in our community, and it is likely to do so for the foreseeable future," said Warden Gary McNamara.

The City of Windsor ended its state of emergency because of the pandemic a month ago. It ended province-wide last June.

The Essex County Civic Centre reopens to the public on Monday, May 2.
