Man charged in Sandwich Street blaze

A Windsor man is facing arson charges after a fire on Sandwich Street Tuesday night.

Windsor Fire and Rescue crews responded to the blaze around 10 p.m. The building was safely evacuated and no one was injured.

Investigators identified a suspect through surveillance footage. A suspect was located on Wednesday evening and arrested without incident.

The 29-year-old has been charged with arson with a disregard for human life. The charge has not been proven in court.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
