Overhaul starts soon for McKee Park

A West Windsor park on the riverfront will shut down for a short period so city crews can tear up the pathways and install new furniture.

The trails and green space at McKee Park will close on May 25, but the parking lot and boat ramp will stay open.

Over three to four weeks, the pathways will get a fresh coat of asphalt, and new concrete footings will go in. The City of Windsor plans to install new decorative benches and lights.

Crews will also improve the drainage by installing new catch basins and filling in low-lying spots.

Improvements will take place over three phases. In the first one, a boardwalk and gazebo will be built. In phase two, park users can expect to see new trails, lights, silos and benches, and a new playground is in the plans for the final phase.

The weather has delayed the first two phases, but the city still expects to complete the work by this fall.
