WECHU reports three COVID-related deaths

Three more Windsor-Essex residents have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported the deaths of a woman in her 70s and a man and a woman in their 80s. There have been 623 COVID-related deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Over the last five days, there have been 229 new high-risk cases identified in the region. The health unit is monitoring 147 active cases.

Local hospitals are treating 26 patients who have tested positive for the virus. There are three cases admitted to the intensive care unit.

The health unit is monitoring 13 active outbreaks in the community. There are nine long-term care or retirement homes, one hospital unit, and three community congregate settings experiencing outbreaks.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
