Preliminary work for Cabana Road reconstruction starting

Residents in the area of Cabana Road and Highway 3 may experience brief power outages this summer as ENWIN relocates utility lines.

It's part of preliminary work on the next phase of the reconstruction of Cabana Road from Dominion Boulevard to Highway 3.

"There may be minor outages as the work goes on and the poles are moved. Brief outages we don't normally contact all the residents but we certainly would notify the residents if there is a planned outage of any duration," said ENWIN Utilities CEO Helga Reidel.

Work begins May 30 to relocate 53 poles in the corridor to prepare for the widening of the road. Utility relocates will continue until the fall.

Phase 4 of the road reconstruction will begin in 2023. The $14-million project includes expanding the road from two to four lanes, wider sidewalks, active transportation facilities, and upgraded water mains, storm sewers, and street lighting.
