Public advised to steer clear of waterways and shoreline

With more rain on the way, the Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) is concerned about the accumulation of standing water in low-lying areas.

The amount and duration of rainfall fall below Flood Watch thresholds, but due to the combination of above-average lake levels and forecasted rainfall, a watershed conditions statement has been issued, especially for areas adjacent to and within floodplain areas of all major waterways and shoreline areas.

The ERCA advise people to take extra caution and avoid areas where flooding is occurring as well as rivers, streams, and shoreline areas during significant rainfall and wind events.

Currently, the advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. on Saturday, though it will be modified as required.
