Young teens arrested after weapon incident at youth dance

The Ontario Provincial Police has arrested two 13-year-olds and seized an airsoft gun after an incident at a grade school dance last month in Essex.

Officers were called to the Essex Sports Complex just after 9 p.m. on May 13 after police received a call someone had brought a weapon to the dance.

Police identified two suspects who can not be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The two will have to participate in the Pre-Charge Diversion Program, designed to hold young people accountable.

No one was hurt during the incident, but police ask anyone who has information to call them at 1-888-310-1122. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave an anonymous message online.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
