Arrest made after suspicious person complaints

Ontario Provincial Police say they have arrested a man suspected to have trespassed near area homes.

Officers were first called to a home on Cameron Avenue in Essex around 10:35 p.m. on Thursday, June 2. The complainant reported an unknown man was seen peering through her front window. The man, caught on a surveillance camera, left before the police arrived.

Around 11 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, a homeowner on County Road 34 in Tecumseh reported a man staring into his front window. The man was seen on video tiptoeing onto the porch before the homeowner scared him off.

Police have since identified and arrested a 35-year-old Tecumseh man.

The man has been charged with three counts of mischief under $5,000, three counts of trespassing by night, and two counts of criminal harassment.

The charges have not been proven in court. The man has been released from police custody and will have a chance to answer the counts in a Windsor court on July 26.

The Essex County OPP would like to thank the public and the media for their help in resolving this matter.
