Windsor man charged after cab driver robbed

A 32-year-old has been arrested after Windsor police allege he robbed a cab driver Friday night.

Officers were called around 9 p.m. Friday to Wyandotte Street East and Parent Avenue, responding to a call about a robbery. A taxi driver told police that he picked up a fare at the location. Following a short exchange, the driver said the man threatened him with a knife and assaulted him. The man then made off with money.

The taxi driver sustained minor injuries, according to Constable Bianca Jackson.

At 7:30 p.m. Monday, an officer directing traffic for the Ford Fireworks saw a suspect walking along Wyandotte Street West near Victoria Avenue. The man was arrested without incident.

The Windsor man is charged with robbery using a weapon and breach of probation.
