Municipality of Leamington appoints new councillor

The Municipality of Leamington has appointed Heather Latam as a municipal councillor.

She is filling the position of Trevor Jones, who was recently elected as the Member of Provincial Parliament for Chatham-Kent-Leamington.

Latam ran unsuccessfully for council in the 2018 municipal election. She was appointed to the seat vacated by Jones as she was the candidate with the next highest vote total in that election.

“We are pleased to welcome Heather to the Council table,” said Mayor Hilda MacDonald. “Heather is an engaged and involved member of the Leamington community and we look forward to working with her in her new role.”

Latam takes on the position immediately.

The next municipal election is on October 24, 2022. The last day to file nomination papers is August 19, 2022.
