Repeated calls to 911 results in mischief charges

A Lakeshore resident is facing mischief charges after allegedly making 20 calls to 911 in three and half hours.

The Ontario Provincial Police reported they received a call on June 11 for a non-emergent neighbour dispute on Renaud Line Road.

At the time, officers were responding to priority calls, and the caller was told that officers would contact him when they became available.

The individual called 911 another 20 times over the course of three and half hours.

"This is a dangerous misuse of resources that not only wasted valuable time of our communication operators that could have been assisting a member of the public with a real emergency," said Constable Steven Duguay.

The 47-year-old is facing charges of public mischief and harassing communications.
