Production cancelled for next week at Windsor Assembly

Workers at Stellantis' Windsor Assembly Plant are being asked to stay home next week.

According to a tweet from Unifor Local 444, which represents hourly workers at the plant, production for the week of July 11 has been cancelled for at least one week.

Production employees are asked not to report to work next week unless directed to do so by their immediate supervisor. Those who are apprentices and in the skilled trades should report to work as usual, however.

The plant is among others across North America that have experienced periodic shutdowns due to a global microchip shortage.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
