Windsor police stop five stunt drivers in weekend blitz

Stunt drivers were among those busted by Windsor police after an enforcement action Friday night.

Police released the blitz results on Monday morning, following an aggressive driving enforcement campaign. A total of 92 enforcement actions were laid, with five for stunt driving.

The five drivers were clocked at speeds of 45, 53, 55, and 78 kilometres-per-hour over in a 50-kilometre-per-hour zone; and 62 kilometres-per-hour over in a 60-kilometre-per-hour zone.

Another driver was cited for careless driving following a rollover crash, according to police.

Officers also set up two checkpoints for a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) Program on Friday night. A total of 442 drivers were interviewed, and seven roadside tests were issued. Fortunately, there were no arrests for impaired driving.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
