Francis going for another term

City of Windsor Ward 1 Councillor Fred Francis is going for a third term on council.

He is the last incumbent councillor to declare his intentions for the upcoming election.

Francis says there are a lot of exciting developments happening in Windsor right now and he'd like to continue to be a part of them.

"We are actually at a turning point, we're at the turning point where what we do today, what we do tomorrow is really going to shape the future of Windsor for the next 50 years and I'm excited to be part of that," said Francis.

Long-time resident Darcie Renaud is also running for the position of Ward 1 Councillor. She also ran in the 2018 election. She says her campaign will focus on stronger fiscal management and addressing priorities such as affordability and neighbourhood safety.

"I'd like to look at finding efficiencies within the city in order to have more affordable services," said Renaud.

The last day to file nomination papers for the upcoming election is August 19, 2022.

Election Day is October 24, 2022.
