Lakeshore woman charged with impaired driving

A 53-year-old woman has a court date scheduled after driving her vehicle off a road in Lakeshore Wednesday night.

Ontario Provincial Police say a passerby spotted a running vehicle in a field off County Road 8 near Lakeshore Road 225 at around 10:30 p.m.

Constable Steven Duguay said the bystander approached the vehicle, checked on the driver's well-being, then called the police.

The driver was not hurt, but she was soon taken into custody.

The Lakeshore resident has been charged with driving with a blood-alcohol concentration of over 80 milligrams.

The charge has not been proven in court. The woman will have a chance to defend herself in a Windsor court on August 26.
