Two men charged in weekend gun incident

Windsor police have arrested two people following an incident in the downtown core over the weekend.

Officers were called Sunday to an apartment complex on Glengarry Avenue near Assumption Street after someone reported a person with a gun. Police soon learned the location of the suspect, contained the area, and arrested the person.

Constable Bianca Jackson said officers soon determined that the complainant and suspect knew each other and that the complainant had recently fired the weapon himself. The complainant was also arrested.

There were no injuries reported, and police believe the suspect was randomly firing the gun into the air.

A 27-year-old man, and a 36-year-old man, both from Windsor, were each charged with discharging a firearm, possessing a restricted weapon, possessing a dangerous weapon, and using a firearm. The 27-year-old was also charged with possessing a weapon while prohibited, carrying a concealed weapon, and possessing a prohibited device.

The 36-year-old was also charged with failure to comply with a release order.

The charges have not been proven in court.
