Leamington woman charged with multiple shoplifting offences

Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a woman suspected of stealing merchandise from numerous businesses.

Officers were called to a business on Erie Street South in Leamington after someone reported a woman shoplifting.

The woman was located a short time later and arrested, according to OPP Constable Steven Duguay. Police said their investigation showed that the woman had gone to multiple businesses in the area and had taken items without paying for them.

The 44-year-old Leamington woman is charged with three counts of theft under $5,000.

The charges have not been proven in court. She was released from custody and will have a chance to defend herself at a later date in a Windsor court.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
