Swimming not recommended at seven area beaches

The forecast suggests Windsor-Essex will enjoy a good stretch of sunshine and warm temperatures over the next few days, good weather to go to the beach.

However, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit doesn't recommend swimming at seven. E.coli counts were 200 or higher at Sandpoint Beach in Windsor, West Beach in Belle River, Seacliff Beach in Leamington, Mettawas Beach and Cedar Beach in Kingsville, and Colchester Beach in Essex.

No beaches are closed.

Swimming is okay at three others, Cedar Island Beach in Kingsville, Holiday Beach in Amherstburg, and Point Pelee North West Beach in Point Pelee National Park.

The health unit conducts weekly water testing at area beaches. Detailed results are posted on its website.
