Fourth suspect arrested in Windsor social media assaults

Windsor police say a second youth has been arrested in connection with a pair of weekend assaults.

Investigators were made aware on Monday of two incidents where suspects appeared to target victims who were alone. Each attack was recorded, then posted on social media. Both took place in downtown Windsor in the early morning hours of Saturday, within one hour of each other.

Two 18-year-old men and a youth have already been charged, but on Thursday evening, police announced that a second youth was arrested, bringing the total to four.

All of the suspects are charged with robbery and aggravated assault. The two youths are not being identified in accordance with the Ontario Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police say as many as seven people may have been involved in the attacks, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the others appearing in the videos, or on the attacks themselves, is urged to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477) to be eligible for a cash reward.
