Woman sexually assaulted in Lakeshore

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating after a woman was sexually assaulted Thursday night in Lakeshore.

The OPP say officers from the Lakeshore detachment arrived in the area of Amy Croft Drive and Branton Crescent at around 8:45 p.m. A woman told police she was jogging when confronted by a stranger. The victim was able to get away and find a safe place, said Constable Steven Duguay.

The suspect has been described as a White male in his mid-20s. He is 5' 7" with a slim build. He was wearing a black sweater and black pants. The man was last seen running along Amy Croft Drive toward West Pike Creek Road.

The Essex County OPP's Crime Unit is investigating and has asked the public for information or security camera footage from the area.

Anyone with a tip should call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), to be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
