OFM to investigate fatal downtown apartment fire

The Ontario Fire Marshal's office has been called to investigate an apartment fire on Ouellette Avenue after a person died in the blaze.

Windsor Fire and Rescue crews responded to the fire around 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Officials say the fire was contained to a single unit.

The OFM investigation will determine the cause and origin of the blaze.

The southbound lanes of Ouellette Avenue between Erie Street and Elliott Street were closed for over five hours. The lanes have since been reopened.
