Uber driver accused of sexually assaulting passenger

A Windsor man is facing charges after a woman was forcibly confined and sexually assaulted inside of a vehicle she ordered from the ride-share service Uber.

The woman requested the lift through the service around 2 a.m. on Sunday.

The driver drove his vehicle to a parking lot enroute to the requested destination, where he got into the back seat and forcibly began to touch her in a sexual manner, and forcibly kissed her.

The woman exited the vehicle, got another ride to her destination and immediately contacted the police.

Police said the driver was located and arrested a short time after the incident.

A 42-year-old man has been charged with one count of sexual assault. He is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges at a later date.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
