Ottawa police issue warrant for Windsor man

Police in the nation's capital have issued a warrant for a Windsor man on hate-motivated charges.

The Ottawa police's hate and bias crime unit began an investigation after a person working in the healthcare field received multiple telephone threats.

A warrant has been issued for 58-year-old Louis Mertzelos of Windsor. He has been charged with hate-motivated offences of harassing communication, harassment by repeated communication, and intimidation of health service.

There is a possibility that Mertzelos may be back in Windsor-Essex.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Ottawa police at (613) 236-1222. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) to be eligible for a cash reward.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
