Hogs for Hospice raises over $1-million

Organizers of Hogs for Hospice are celebrating after surpassing the fundraising goal for this year's event.

They had hoped to raise $1-million and raised $1,006,132.

Organizers announced the total last week at its Volunteer Appreciation Night at the Roma Club in Leamington.

It's the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Erie Shores Hospice in Leamington. The money covers operating costs, so no family has to incur expenses while their loved one is in residence.

Thousands of motorcyclists participated during the three-day event from July 29 to July 31.

The theme this year was "Back in the Saddle" after a two-year hiatus because of COVID-19 restrictions. The event included a concert series at Seacliff Park, a non-denominational service, and a motorcycle rally around Point Pelee National Park.
