Multi-use facility opening soon in Stoney Point Community Park

Essex County Library's CEO is excited residents in Stoney Point will once again have access to a library in their community.

The library will be inside a multi-use facility opening early next year.

Once its operational and in-person services resume, residents can access computers and free Wi-Fi.

The multi-use facility is a 24X40 foot mobile unit in Stoney Point Community Park. It's already on site, but it won't be until December that it will be fully furnished.

"Citizens in the area have been clear about their desire for a community space and services," said Lakeshore CAO Truper McBride.

The community has been without a library for a year after Lakeshore Municipal Council voted to close the permanent location.

It set aside $185,000 for the mobile unit until there's a permanent solution. The Essex County Library contributed another $150,000.
