Drug and weapons charges laid

Two people are facing drug and weapon-related charges after officers in the Windsor Police Problem-Oriented Policing Unit stopped them for trespassing.

Around 8 p.m. Wednesday, police officers were patrolling a building on Glengarry Avenue when their attention was drawn to two men loitering on the premises.

They learned the individuals were not residents of the building and arrested them under the Trespass to Property Act.

During a search, police seized a loaded semi-automatic handgun, 19 rounds of ammunition, fentanyl, and around $2,000 in cash.

A 26-year-old Windsor man is facing charges of possession of a prohibited firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, storing a firearm carelessly, and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The second suspect, a 24-year-old Windsor man has been charged with possession of a prohibited firearm, and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The charges have not been proven in court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
