Windsor Goodfellows exceed fundraising goal

The donations from this year's Annual Newspaper Drive have been added up, and the Windsor Goodfellows raised more than expected.

The group announced Friday morning it raised $392,334.

About 600 volunteers took part this year by standing on street corners across the city offering newspapers in exchange for donations.

The goal was $375,000 this year.

The fundraising drive makes up about 43 per cent of the Windsor Goodfellows annual budget and funds several different programs, including school breakfasts, the lunch bag program for the homeless, the Boot and Shoe program in elementary schools, and the weekly food box program.

Meanwhile, registration for the Christmas Hamper program is over.  It started accepting clients in October.  A total of 1,805 hampers will be distributed.
