Just weeks before the CEO of ENWIN Utilities was expected to settle into retirement, Helga Reidel is opening a new chapter as a member of the Board of Directors of the Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority.
Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities Dominic LeBlanc announced her appointment, and that of another long-time executive, Jeff Allsop.
"As a future link to our most important trading partner, the Gordie Howe International Bridge project is key to Canada's economic prosperity," said LeBlanc. "Ms Reidel and Mr Allsop's leadership, infrastructure and financial experience will help ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of this project."
Both bring more than three decades of experience to the table.
Reidel has headed the Windsor utility since leaving her post as Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Windsor in 2016. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant, has degrees in Commerce and Education from the University of Windsor, and holds an ICD.D. from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Earlier this year, she announced she was retiring. In May, ENWIN announced Gary Rossi would resume her duties as CEO starting on January 1.
Allsop, originally from Windsor, has held executive positions in many industries like finance, banking, and private equity. He was the CEO and Chair of HSBC Securities and a director of HSBC Global Asset Management in Canada. He is also a Chartered Professional Accountant with an Honours Business Administration degree from the Ivey Business School at Western University.
The Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority Board of Directors has up to nine members serving four-year terms.
