Wyandotte Town Centre BIA giving away turkeys

"The Board of Directors is honoured and fortunate to be in a position to be able to give back to the community this holiday season," said Wyandotte Town Centre Business Improvement Area Chair Larry Horwitz.

The BIA plans to give away 101 turkeys to those in need on Tuesday.

The event is open to the public, and identification and proof of income are not required. However, the turkeys will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The BIA also welcomes the public to say hello to Santa Claus on Tuesday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Santa will be at Al Sabeel Restaurant on Wyandotte Street East.

The giveaway is one of many across the region.

On Saturday, Talking over Turkey held its annual giveaway in Leamington. Founder Mike Diab had up to 700 turkeys and food boxes to distribute this year.

Local realtor Angie Goulet and Associates plan to distribute 1,100 turkey dinners on December 21. Vouchers can be found at Salvation Army Windsor, UHC Hub of Opportunities, the Downtown Mission, Drouillard Place, Windsor Homes Coalition, Windsor Lifeline Outreach, and Seventh Day Adventist.
