Windsor man charged after another driver suspects drunk driving

A Windsor man faces charges after another driver called 911 on Monday morning to report a suspected impaired driver on Hwy. 401.

Following that call, the Ontario Provincial Police pulled over a commercial vehicle in the eastbound lanes east of Iona Road in Elgin County.

The officer also suspected the driver was drunk, so he demanded a roadside test, but the man refused.

The officer arrested him.

The 42-year-old suspect now has a court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas to answer a charge of failure to comply with a demand.

His license is suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle will sit in an impound yard for the next week.

The OPP remind the public they can always call 911 if they suspect a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs.
