UPDATE: Two dead after crash near Cottam

The Ontario Provincial Police say two people are dead after an early morning crash on Tuesday in Essex.

Police say a vehicle collided with a parked vehicle and burst into flames on County Road 34 north of Marsh Road in Cottam.

Three people were inside.

One occupant managed to escape and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, but two others were pronounced dead at the scene.

Constable Steven Duguay said investigators from the OPP Traffic Reconstruction Unit were on the scene, and the investigation was expected to take "some time."

County Road 34 was closed in both directions for about 11 hours. It is now open again.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
