Windsor man charged with commercial break-in

A 32-year-old man has been arrested after Windsor police caught him inside a business over the weekend.

Officers were called around 4:30 a.m. Saturday to the business on Jefferson Boulevard near Essex Way after a security alarm was activated. When the officers arrived, they learned there was a break-in, and the suspect was still inside.

Police set up a perimeter around the building. The suspect soon walked out of the building and tried to run but was arrested after a short chase.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and found that the suspect arrived at the business driving a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck that had been stolen in Chatham-Kent.

The Windsor man has been charged with break-and-enter, possession of break-in instruments, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and possession of stolen property under $5,000. These charges have not been proven in court.
