UPDATE: Windsor police say downtown standoff ended peacefully

Police in Windsor say a standoff downtown ended peacefully on Thursday and no charges have been laid.

A section of Pelissier Street in downtown Windsor was closed Thursday afternoon.

It began around 2 p.m. between Wyandotte Street West and Elliott Street West.

Officers from the Emergency Services Unit and K-9 Unit were on scene, along with Essex-Windsor EMS.

The area was reopened to traffic around 6 p.m.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
