Police arrest downtown vandalism suspect

Downtown business owners may be breathing a sigh of relief after Windsor police arrested a man they believe to be responsible for 13 separate incidents of vandalism.

Between November 23 and December 29, Windsor police responded to reports of property damage at 13 businesses throughout downtown. At each scene, officers found metal nuts scattered on the ground near the shattered windows.

The incidents caused around $12,600 in damages.

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and determined the same suspect was responsible for all 13 incidents.

On Thursday, police arrested a 53-year-old Windsor man. He was charged with 13 counts of mischief under $5,000.

This remains an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Property Crimes Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4350.
