Fire near U of W displaces three people

Fire investigators have been unable to determine the cause of a blaze near the University of Windsor.

Windsor Fire and Rescue crews were called around noon Wednesday to a home on Union Street near California Avenue.

The fire was put out within 90 minutes, and an investigator was on scene for most of Wednesday afternoon.

There were no injuries reported, but fire officials say three people living in the home have been displaced. The cause of the fire is undetermined, but the damage estimate has been set at $350,000.

Union Street between California Avenue and Randolph Street was closed as fire crews put out the fire. It has since been reopened.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
