Six schools remain closed after ice storm

Students at six schools in Windsor-Essex won't be going to class for a second day in a row after Wednesday night's ice storm.

The Greater Essex County District School Board said Belle River District High School, Colchester North Public School, and Centennial Central Public School are closed because the power hasn't been restored.

At the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board, students at St. Anne Catholic High School, St. Mary Catholic Elementary School, and Holy Name Catholic Elementary School in Essex remain closed.

The Catholic school board said teachers are working remotely and students should check their board email accounts or Google classroom for assignments.

All other schools are open on Friday.

Hydro One, E.L.K. Energy, and Essex Powerlines continue to work to restore power to parts of Essex County.

At the height of the storm, 32,000 Hydro One customers were without power.
