Windsor police arrest suspect wanted in downtown assault

A 27-year-old man is charged with aggravated assault after what police call a "physical altercation" in downtown Windsor.

Police said a 32-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck several times in the head by another man on Ouellette Avenue near Wyandotte Street around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Officers with the Major Crimes Unit arrested the suspect at a residence in LaSalle.

Taylor Wilhelm is charged with aggravated assault.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
