OPP lay over 10,000 charges during Easter long weekend

Ontario Provincial Police had a busy Easter long weekend on the roads they patrol across the province.

During its four-day campaign, officers laid over 10,000 charges related to seatbelts, speeding, and distracted driving.

There were 1,507 seatbelt charges laid, 5,186 speeding charges, 141 impaired driving charges, and 137 distracted driving charges.

Throughout the province, three people lost their lives in motor vehicle collisions and another was killed in a snowmobile incident.

The OPP Easter Long Weekend Seatbelt Campaign ran April 7-10, 2023.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
