Hospitals relaxing mask policies

Windsor and area hospitals are relaxing masking policies effective April 17.

Starting Monday, staff, volunteers and visitors will only be required to wear a mask within 2 metres of a patient unless there is a physical barrier. Staff and visitors will be required to wear masks on units with active COVID-19 outbreaks.

Masks will not be required in non-clinical areas like the main lobby, waiting areas, cafeterias and elevators.

However, in high-risk areas such as oncology, dialysis and the emergency department masks will still be required.

This new policy will be in effect for both campuses of Windsor Regional Hospital, Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, and Erie Shores HealthCare.

Masks will still be available at all hospital entrances.
