Marine training exercise planned on Detroit River

Over 80 sailors from at least 12 organizations are preparing for their annual marine exercise on the Detroit River this weekend.

Exercise Border Sentinel is April 22 and 23.

A notice from LaSalle Police said the public might see many marine vessels on the river participating in different scenarios.

The Naval Reserve will lead the emergency preparedness exercise.

"The lessons we learn from these joint exercises enhance our ability to work together effectively and ensure a coordinated, efficient, and timely response to marine emergencies," said the notice.

Along with the Naval Reserve and LaSalle Police, HMCS Hunter, the Canadian Coast Guard, Windsor Police, RCMP, OPP, Windsor Port Authority, LaSalle Fire and Leamington Fire Services will participate.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
