Assumption High School teacher honoured with award

A science teacher at Assumption College Catholic High School was honoured with an award from the Canadian Association of Physicists.

Adam Mills is the recipient of the 2022 Award for Excellence in Teaching High School Physics (Ontario).

According to the CAP, Mills was given the award for his passion for teaching and leading teaching workshops to assist peers in the field.

"I really enjoy teaching and being able to be put in the echelon of people that have received this award before, it's really humbled me," said Mills.

Mills indicated he has spent a lot of time researching the best ways to teach physics.

"Physics is a subject where we all experience the everyday world so a lot of us have built-in mental models of how the world works and I kind of tap into those and we do a lot of inquiry-based learning in the classroom where I am more on the side facilitating rather than being at the board teaching," said Mills.

Mills was given the award during an assembly at the school on Thursday.
