Mall expo to feature Windsor-Essex attractions

Windsor-Essex residents will have a literal taste of what the region will offer this tourist season.

Tourism Windsor-Essex Pelee Island (TWEPI) gave a preview of the annual Staycation Expo at Windsor's Devonshire Mall Thursday, during which the 2023-24 Visitor's Guide was revealed.

TWEPI CEO Gordon Orr said the tourism industry has continued its rebound following the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This continued partnership is a win-win for Tourism Windsor Essex and for our stakeholders by affording a captive audience but also educating locals on the region," said Orr. "Visiting friends and family is the top visit segment to Windsor Essex, and getting the opportunity to reach locals continues to be an important facet to our marketing."

On Friday and Saturday, visitors to Devonshire Mall will have a chance to sample some of what Windsor-Essex will provide, as over 40 businesses will promote tours, wineries, craft breweries, summer festivals, and other events.

"The Staycation Expo continues to be a unique collaboration that we look forward to each year at Devonshire Mall, allowing the diverse and memorable attractions and businesses in the region another facet to reach their audiences," said Devonshire Mall General Manager Chris Savard. "As the busiest building in the region, we view this partnership as a true win-win for our tenants, customers, and the entire tourism industry."

The expo is located in the Hudson's Bay court of the mall and runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
