One dead after head-on collision in Lakeshore

A driver was killed in a two vehicle collision on Saturday afternoon, according to Essex County OPP.

The incident happened just after 2 p.m. on County Road 22, east of Wallace Line Road. Police said two vehicles collided head-on.

Lakeshore's OPP detachment responded to the scene alongside Lakeshore Fire Rescue and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Service.

Police said one driver was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries and later pronounced dead.

The second driver was treated at the scene of the crash.

County Road 22 was closed between Patillo Road and Old Tecumseh Road as officers investigated the incident. The OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team assisted Lakeshore police with the probe.

Police provided an update on Sunday saying charges had been laid in relation to the incident.
