Charges laid in fatal Lakeshore crash

Police have charged one person in connection to a collision that killed a Lakeshore woman on Saturday.

A 35-year-old Lakeshore man is accused of operation causing death, dangerous operation causing death, and failing to comply with a demand in an incident where death occured.

On Saturday around 2 p.m., emergency crews were called to the scene of a two vehicle collision in Lakeshore. Police said the two vehicles collided head-on while travelling on County Road 22.

One of the drivers, a 70-year-old woman, was reportedly taken to hospital in life-threatening condition and later succumbed to her injuries.

The other driver was treated by paramedics at the scene, police said, and was subsequently taken into custody. He is currently being held pending a bail hearing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
