Tecumseh Transit improving bus route

Tecumseh Transit is changing to its bus route as of June 1.

The system returned to a fixed route in January after a six-month pilot program for on-demand transit.

Since then, the municipality has been gathering feedback to improve the fixed route.

Based on public input, a bus stop will be reintroduced leading to and from the Tecumseh Towne Centre Plaza and Sobey's grocery store in Lakeshore.

The Brighton Road loop will be removed from the hourly route to maintain the schedule. However, the bus will continue to provide some service to the area.

"These stops be serviced three times per day – at 7:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., with a courtesy drop-off as necessary.  These proposed changes will still provide for residents of this area to use the service while enabling the bus to better maintain its schedule for the balance of the route," stated the report to Tecumseh council.

The final change is moving the route from Dillon Drive to Little River Boulevard.

The system will continue to use an on-demand model on Saturdays.
