Teen charged in stabbing incident near downtown Windsor

A 16-year-old boy is accused of aggravated assault and failing to comply with a release order after a violent altercation with another teen on Saturday evening.

Windsor police responded to the area of Wyandotte Street East and Glengarry Avenue just before 7 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 15-year-old male who had suffered a laceration to the face. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police learned that the two teens were involved in a fight during which the 16-year-old pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. Police said the two parties were known to one another and were engaged in another confrontation earlier on Saturday.

The youth suspect was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
