Two arrested following crash involving stolen vehicle

Windsor police have arrested two people after a stolen vehicle was involved in a weekend crash.

Around 8:30 a.m. Sunday, someone called the police to complain about an alleged impaired driver on Tecumseh Road East near Tecumseh Mall. Police soon learned that the vehicle in question was stolen last month.

The vehicle was found soon after on Sycamore Drive off Meadowbrook Lane. The driver sped away upon seeing police, but officers did not pursue it out of consideration for public safety.

Soon after, the vehicle was found damaged and on its side on the E.C. Row Expressway on-ramp from Lauzon Parkway. Two people were found nearby and arrested.

Both of them, a 41-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man, have been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000. In addition, the female is charged with leaving the scene of a crash, impaired driving, dangerous driving, and driving while suspended.

The charges have not been proven in court.
