UPDATE: Scene cleared after overnight standoff

A man was arrested after an overnight standoff with Windsor Police Monday.

Officers were called to a home on Elsmere Avenue around 7 p.m. after a man allegedly threatened his neighbour with a knife and axe.

When officers arrived the suspect allegedly threatened officers and refused to cooperate with the investigation.

Police exhausted all efforts to communicate with the suspect. The Emergency Services Unit was called in and contained the residence.

Around 8 a.m. the suspect exited his residence and was placed into custody without incident.

A 48-year-old is now facing charges of mischief under $5,000, uttering death threats with dangerous weapons.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
